Working on a timing belt job the other day and ran across this 25 year old time capsule. Nissan oem thermostats are date stamped for year/month of manufacture... this one is April 1990, stuck cracked open and will not pop at temp. Broken thermostat was causing tons of system pressure and look at the ballooning of the bypass hoses. water pump, expired but this timing belt was so old & dry that you can make it crack in your hands like this. I was able to tear it into about 20 pieces with my bare hands. It was holding on by fairy dust alone. Oh and a side order of PTU corrosion just to make things interesting. rewired It's not just the miles/kilometers, it's also the age too. Stay on top of your maintenance schedule. At best these cars are 20 years old and rubber parts don't last forever.
